$315.00The Davenport desk, named after Captain Davenport who ordered one from Gillow & Co furniture makers in the 18th century. The desk has a brown leather lined sloping, lift up top. There are 5 small drawers on the right hand side of the pedestal support. The top of the desk has a small gallery for ink wells, pens and pencils. The gallery surround is serpentine shape with a centrally placed hand caved medallion in the back. The front legs are fluted and the desk apron is hand carved to match the medallion. 12 inches x long x 5 1/4 inches deep x 6 1/4inches high and is available in a walnut finish.

A small gilt decorated (none working) clock is cantered above the drawers. The leather desk top is outlined with a gilt twisted ribbon and the desk is fitted with a frieze drawer, attributed to François Linke (1855-1946). The pad feet and knees of the cabriole legs are decorated with a gilt leaf design and the front of the freeze drawer is similarly decorated with an extended carved leaf and bottom moulding. The superstructure consists of a pigeon hole opening flanked on either side by 2 small drawers. On the shelf above the drawers is a centrally placed cupboard with one interior shelf enclosed by a glass door and a hand painted floral design on the cornice. $979.60Yoke back arm chair Ming dynasty,( the original can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art) it was originally used as the chair for a Chinese painting desk. The design of this chair is simple. The top of the chair fame is Cyma shaped, The back is a flat splat with moulded edges and a very small cut out were the splat fits on to the chair seat. (Hence the name yoke back)The top of the back frame and splat are curved back slightly. The chair has open arms curved outwards with straight supports. The seat frame is moulded with a curved valance that forms part of the front framework. Shaped brace blocks have been incorporated on the front legs, under the seat at the sides and at the front of the chair under the arm rests. The chair measures 6 1/4 inches high x 2 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches deep and is available in black.
