Ming Dynasty Writing Table Chair-Black
Yoke back arm chair Ming dynasty,( the original can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art) it was originally used as the chair for a Chinese painting desk. The design of this chair is simple. The top of the chair fame is Cyma shaped, The back is a flat splat with moulded edges and a very small cut out were the splat fits on to the chair seat. (Hence the name yoke back)The top of the back frame and splat are curved back slightly. The chair has open arms curved outwards with straight supports. The seat frame is moulded with a curved valance that forms part of the front framework. Shaped brace blocks have been incorporated on the front legs, under the seat at the sides and at the front of the chair under the arm rests. The chair measures 6 1/4 inches high x 2 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches deep and is available in black.
