Victorian 19th Century Torchiere/Plant stand-Gold
Attractive turned, gilt wood, Victorian 19th Century tripod Torchiere or Plant Stand. The outward splayed scrolled legs are decorated with a hand carved design. The top of the column is surmounted by a well-balanced round flat plate 1 1/4 inches in diameter that can be used to hold a potted plant, a bowl of flowers or a candle. It measures 3 ? inches tall and 1 3/4 inches across the legs.

Victorian Antique Japanned Work Table Sewing Box.During this period large and ornate sewing boxes were fashionable. Needlework was a popular pastime for dowager ladies and sometimes even the gentlemen. This needlework box highly decorated in the chinoiserie style is supported on a tall tressel table with Lyre shaped ends. The sides are cut in balancing cyma curves.It sits on 2 scroll cut cyma-curved bracket feet. The interior of the box has been divided into compartments of vaious sizes some with small lids that are fitted with a little brass knob so that they lift of to gain access to the needlework notions that are stored in the compartment. The lid of the box has been decorated with beautiful hand painted chinoiserie designs mostly they are in rounded sarcophagus shapes with very fine gold decoration depicting oriental scenes

Empire/Victorian transitional, scroll arm, arm chair, circa 1840-1855, The serpentine-arched top rail, the seat rail and arm facings rail are heavily carved with a reticulated leaf scroll. The top rail is flanked by further scroll shaped carvings at each end of the sofa. Further carved decoration can be found on the deep shaped skirt carved with a repeat of the foliated scrollwork. The frame boasts attractive up-swept scroll end arms decorated with foliated carvings that continue through to decorate the curved splay chair legs. The end of the chair legs is a carved scroll that serves as the foot for the arm chair. The arm chair has been upholstered in a top quality silk fabric, hand spun in South Korea, decorated with a foliate pattern, in shades of red The arm chair is available in a walnut finish.
